I would like to know if anyone has any information on the temporary housing arrangements by FEMA for Cameron Parish. I have been trying to call our police juror and can not get through on his cell phone. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

All I know is that my great aunt, who lives (lived?) in JB had her FEMA inspection yesterday and qualified for a FEMA trailer. Supposedly, when there are utilities in the parish, people can move the trailers in. Either on their lots or somewhere else they have utilities. Heard from a cousin that some of the plants in the area (Cameron/Calc) are contracting with FEMA to become "trailer parks" because they have utilities.

It sounds like people are planning on getting the trailers and moving them until they ultimately end up on the property they own... I don't know if they KNOW they can do this or if it's just what they intend on doing.

Nothing official, just what I've heard.

From what I understand Hackberry,Holly Beach, and a few other places, have had the stay out lifted. The corp., is due to start clean up in Cameron on the 17th. It will not be until after the clean up, that they will lift the stay away order. They have a look and go for this week end, then clean up starts Monday. From what I have gathered and understood, is every thing deemed uninhabitable will be dozed. I do not know if Fema is going to do a house by house in Cameron. The word was the only structure left standing would be the Court House. Keep trying the numbers.

The latest information I have is they are considering locating housing on the Crain Bros ranch in JB.. Power and water will have to restored first. The priority is getting utilities to the plants on 82. They are only staging the trailers at the airbase in LC.
