If entry is blocked to Cameron Parish, who has decided that roads should be blocked? Who is doing the blocking? Why? When will this be rescinded? I need information other than there's no power. I need dates, so that when I come in, I won't be denied. And, most importantly, I want to know why reporting on the devastation in our Parish has stopped almost completely? There's no coverage on the Lake Charles American Press website; the Lafayette Daily Advertiser is a better source of information.

I've seen the following people quoted in the media:

Office of Emergency Preparedness Office
(337) 775-5551
Director - Freddie Richard, Jr.

Sheriff Theos Duhon, 337.775.5111, theosduhon@yahoo.com

Cameron Parish Sheriff Chief Deputy Ron Johnson

I have no idea how to get in touch with these people... I tried the OEM number and it has been disconnected (I assume because of Rita).

I've been putting together Cameron Parish resources on my blog at http://rrcameronparishla.blogspot.com/ if you want to see everything I've compiled.

From what I've heard from family... they are letting people in for "look and leave". I think you show your id or utility bill - something proving you live there. I'd like to know when others can go... people who own property, people who need to check on family member's graves, family members who don't live there but need to help the ones that do....

There are no working phone (landline) numbers for Cameron parish. The specific published information available hasn't been updated for two to four days. But thanks for your reply.

After reading The American Press's coverage of Cameron Parish http://americanpress.blogspot.com/, pages 1, 5 and 10, a few questions were answered. Saw the same names, but still no official place to go for info... sounds like it's coming, though.

I checked out your website and found it thorough and helpful. It also satisfied my need to see something specifically about the overwhelming losses in Cameron Parish that don't seem to be recognized anywhere else.

I'm in New Mexico, and trying to get home soon.

I say thanks also. I'm also in New Mexico and have had only the internet service to find any information on the Grand Lake/Sweetlake area. Although this area has not been as devastated as lower Cameron Parish, we still have homes and lives there as well. I truly feel for the residents of lower Cameron Parish. Thank you for your information as it has been really helpful in determining when to go back home. If you find any info on Sweetlake, I would be very appreciative. God Bless and Thank you

Jamie Lou, I went down yesterday. I saw your mother and waved to her as we passed. I'm sure she did not recognize us, but your house is gone. There is really not much standing or severly damaged. I sent you 30 pictures this morning. Call me if you have trouble downloading them.
