Does anyone know how to get reimbursed for the generators from FEMA? Is there a fax number we send them to? I haven't seen a FEMA Inspector yet.

I was wodering the same thing. No inspector yet at my house either. My mom had a inspector show up at her door last week. He never called to set up an appointment, she had just returned from town when he arrived. I thought they were suppose to schedule an appointment. Maybe I missed them if I was not at home. I might make it to Jennings today and if I get to the DRC in Jennings I will try to find out. Check back here later if I do I will let you know

I talked face to face with FEMA Reps in Jennings..they took my reciepts and made copies of them and wrote a statement (which I signed) why we had to buy a generator and chain saw...they said they submit them (via Fed-X) to the state and they send us the money..when is your guess and good as mine..

Rhonda sorry if this is a repeat, but when I finished typing eariler my machine went out. Anyway, I made it to Jennings today. They took my receipts and a statement and sent it on. I asked the lady if someone could not stand in line at the DRC what do they do. She said You need to send a letter to FEMA explaining that you bought a generator or chainsaw and why you needed these items. If it was for medical needs write that. If not put that you did not have power for two weeks are what ever your time period was. Include a statement from your insurance that says they don't cover these items.(Farm Bureau has these pre-printed in Jennings). On the top right corner print you name, address registration # and disaster # 1607. Mail to MNPSC P O BOX 10055 HYATTSVILLE, MD 20782-7055. She said the Fax # is 1-800-827-8112. But she said she has seen better results with the mail because the fax lines are so busy and when you get through the fax is not always delivered due to all the temp people they had to hire. So I think I would try the mail. Also she said to start all Statements like this: Dear FEMA I declare under penalty of perjury that the following statement is true and correct (then include your own words.) Sign and date the statement. Hope this helps.

I guess the thing to do is whenever you leave your house, if you dont mind all the neighbors knowing you're not home, leave a note for the FEMA guy (or gal) with your cell number or the time you will be back home. I have no idea who will be coming to my house or when, and if they want to go up into my attic to see the damage done to my main support beams when a tree fell dead on and pushed it - no holes in the roof tho. You wouldn't know it unless you went up there like I did and were familiar with my attic. I videotaped it for my wife to show the FEMA person just in case they refuse to go up in the attic whenever they get here. What kind of assistance are they supposed to give? And how does that work with our insurance deductible?
