Ok, so we evacuated Jeff Davis Parish like we were suppose to, now I am having a devil of a time with FEMA. They had me registered as having access to my home although I told them during registration that we had evacuated. So I talked to a lady from FEMA on the phone and she suggested I send a fax, which I did on Thursday.

Sent an e-mail to Boustany's office and the reply was this: "I was informed that expedited assistance funds could be used for the following disaster related needs: transportation, clothing, rental housing, other housing accommodations and food ( related to your time away from primary residence )."

I went to a FEMA meeting today and the piece of paper that I received says the following:
If you have been denied for THE EVACUATION MONEY ,PLEASE CALL THIS NUMBER FOR ASSISTANCE IN LAKE CHARLES. (337) 721-3580. BUt don't call that number until Monday, it won't be working til then.

So what I am getting is that all the people that have received the money and DID NOT evacuate were not entitled to the money, even though there was an evacuation oreder for the parish?

Shoot I don't know anymore, there are so many conflicting stories.

If you did not evacuate, and or no damamge or minor damage to your home, you do not qualify for the intial $2000.00 not any other Fema help other than a loan, if you do not qualify from another loan company. You do not qualify if you own rent property that was not damaged, or own, lease or rent a farm.Seems like a lot of discrimination on the part of FEMA. Guess we all need to move to Iraq so we can get help.
