My sister-in-law went to Grand Lake today to talk to FEMA. they told her since she had some type of insurance, she needed to file, which she tols them she already had. They told her they had called to set up an appointment, to veiw her house yesterday in Creole. We know for a fact they did not call, or it would have showed up at least one of the four caller ID Pones in this house. Not one number showed up that was not a relitive calling. She told them, she had found a trailer to live in, but needed a septic tank and electric pole in order to live in it, until they could rebuild in Creole. They told her they would not help. They told her she need to apply for a low intrest home loan from the packet tha FEMA sent, even though it said she was approved for housing assistance. They said if you wait too long to fill out the loan application, you can not appeal. So it is up to everyone to fend for them selves, help each other out if we can, beacause the truth is if you don't live in New Orleans, they seem like they could care less. Now once again I stress, it is not your local Goverment it is higher than the state level, as FEMA is FEDERAL. I urge you to raise your voices and be heard, e-mail your complaints to
comments@whitehouse.gov United we can stand, divided we will fail.

I agree and while you are there please make sure you mention the Tax treatment issue. People in Rita are not given the same as Katrina when it comes to tax breaks. If you have not done so please read the post on Oct. 16 by Mr Seat he make a very good point and also gives the Irs web sight you can follow and read for yourselves the differnt treatment. We must let the so call "Big People" know how we feel.

Thanks for your reply .... please encourage others to contact their representatives to make sure SWLA get equal tax treatment as Katrina... If we do not raise the issue now SWLA will be left holding the bag....
