Can someone please tell me how we can get some help financially? I know many people are in the same shape as my family, so I hope I'm helping others by asking this. We live in Loreauville so we did not have any physical damage, but my husband works south of 90 and lost 6 days of work from the flooding. As this is our only income, it has hit us hard for a family of 4. I applied for red cross, but I am not sure we will get anything after hearing all of the horror stories out there. Is there anything else other than unemployment that these families can get? Yes, we may not have had damage, but I don't think it's fair that we get looked over. There are so many rules and regulations now, I don't understand anything any more.
Thanks!

You are in Iberia Parish, which is a designated parish for FEMA disaster declaration. You are entitled to a $2000 individual assistance grant from FEMA. Register at http://www.FEMA.gov or at 1-800-621-FEMA. You also might sign up at any local Red Cross facility in case there is any Red Cross help available in your area. Just a thought....but definitely go get your $2000

I think I heard that the 1-800-975-7585 is now only for residents of Texas.

If you lived in Texas or Louisiana, then you can still apply for finacial assistance as a Red Cross service center. If the Red Cross damage assesment teams have determined that your zip code was not one of the hardest hit areas, then it is possible you may not qualify.

Use your 211 access if you have it. The 211 system is kinda a one stop emergency services directory assistance. Either use the 211 sytem or call the Salvation Army and the United Way directly.
