Hi, i have heard from some folks in JB. Carol Trahan is my uncle, Vernie my grandmother.
Sounds like things are pretty torn up.
I ehard Billy's house was either gone or torn up. Kurt's house made it. Bobbie's house made it, but got water in it. I don't believe there's much left past that.

I went to Johnson Bayou yesterday. Visited the cemetary. It's in real bad shape. If anybody knows how to go about recovering the contents of damaged graves please let me know. I have two that I will be seeing about. From there I went by the Baptist Church and the School. They both suffered heavy damage, but can be repaired. From there I went on to Smith's Ridge. Archie Berwick and my cousin Tim's house can be seen in the north marsh, probably a few miles from were they were. You can see the top of Archie's and the second story of Tim's. Billy Joe Storm's house stood tall with not much apparent damage, like the memory of Billy Joe does in our hearts. The home of my grandparents is still there. Knocked off it's blocks, pushed back to the pecan tree, and now sets at a 45 degree angle to Alfred Lane. But it is still there. Has a little mud in it and a ton of marsh in the yard. I will do what I can to save it, if just for the memories. Next door Uncle Leroy and Aunt Lorainne's house still stood. A little damage on the outside but not too bad. Lance's place had a little damage but still stood. Farrell your place was not so lucky. From there Barbara and I went west and back down to the highway. Things are bad there. Uncle Allen's house is gutted and Uncle Alton's house is tore up and pushed to the north past the fence. Jesse and Judy's houses are there but not exactly where they were. I saw Kenny Trahan cleaning up around his house which fared really well all thing considered. There were a lot of Cameron Parish Sheriff's there and a lot of men and equipment working on the power lines. These guys are true American heros. I took plenty of pictures and if you would like I will email them to you, just let me know your address. One more thing, as I stood on Smith Ridge among all the destruction, it was very quiet, I knew the people would be back to make more memories. That is what Johnson Bayou is. Good people who live in a hard place, they raise their family's and make the best of it. God Bless everyone of them.

The below is copied from the blog, we'll call again next week to see if the hotline is up. We are missing a few family members from Head of the Hollow... Cemetery Damage We found out from family members who have been in to Johnson Bayou that there is some damage to Head of the Hollow cemetery. We spoke with a very helpful lady at Hixson-Sulphur Funeral Home 337-625-9171, Natalie Fontenot, and she told us the Army is gathering up the washed-out caskets, and the Coroner will identify them. We believe this is the procedure for all washed-out cemeteries, not just Head of the Hollow. The funeral home that managed your relative's funeral may be able to help identify the coffin from their records. A cousin called with news the coffins have already been removed to Lake Charles to the Coroner's office, and a phone number. We called 760-795-3309, Cameron Parish Coroner's Office, to speak with Dr. Sanders, the Coroner who will be identifying Cameron Parish caskets, and were told a hotline will be set up for families to call. I do not know where that number will be posted, and the nice lady said she would call us. The Cameron Parish Coroner's Office did confirm they are recovering caskets/remains and taking them to Lake Charles. Doug - could you send me those pics at taiji.carmichael@cox.net?
