seems to me like they are working on commission, the more they find a reason to trun down they more they make. They do not care about the people. But believe you me what goes round comes round. So they better think twice about about what they are doing and start showing some compassion for the people in need, or it will come round to bite them in the A_ _ . I am sorry to hear I would appeal, How you think the ones in New Olreans are getting so much attention? they are showing thier butts kicking and screaming discrimination , we need to start doing the same thing, only we need to yell lauder and longer, kick harder, and more often. Mad

Betty,
Had you received the money yet? If so, do you have to return it?

The money we received for evacuation does not have to be returned. We were looking for a grant to help us with damages since we're not able to have insurance. FEMA is denying everyone through a computer program designed to deny all claims. As soon as my claim was tranmitted to FEMA it showed up on online as denied. NO PHYSICAL person reviewed my claim after FEMA inspectors came to my house. The FEMA inspector transmitted my claim using my phone line. That night it was denied. There's no way they could convince me that a "PERSON" reviewed my transmitted claim. They're bogus. I just emailed news sites and newspapers with hopes that they will pick up our stories. I hope they contact me for my story but hope people who place these posts will want to speak up also. I will post if I hear from any of them (I sent out 12 emails from here to New York)...

You can go to Fema.gov and create an online account -- that will allow you to check the status of your application.

Hi Betty,
Listen I got a grant approved as soon as the inspector came out for $1,634.08, damages to my home are going to run about $10,000.00! I know its small compared to what so many have lost but we are unisured also and will have to do piece by piece without more assistance. Let me know of any "speaking up", and I will, already appealed sent emails to several news stations. If there is anything I come across, will let you know. In the meantime email me, the more of us that get together on this the better. You can email me at spectrashack@bellsouth.net.

FEMA finally came across with money for repairs..but the really sad part is not one response from any of the emails sent to the media about our problems with insurance companies, FEMA, Red Cross, etc...the media doesn't seem to want to get involved with any problems people have with hurricane victims. They report stuff about how some little town up north adopted a southern town and sent a truck load of goods...and I guess they figure that fixes everything for everybody.. I'm not a person who stands in line for every free thing that comes along...but in a situation like this we have to get a little something to help us begin to pick up the peices and have a normal life again....especially when our country is always helping other countries. I also heard today that FEMA says we will be waiting a few weeks to get any monies spent on generators and chainsaws... my email address is boop54@centurytel.net
