Question:
:confused I AM SO CONFUSED AS TO WHAT EXACTLY IS GOING ON HERE.wHY ARE WE NOT BEING VISITED BY OUR INSURANCE COMPANIES OR EVEN FEMA? I HAVE BEEN THROUGH TOO MANY HURRICANES TO NAME THEM ALL BUT I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN ANY THAT TOOK THIS LONG TO GET HELP. WHERE ARE THEY? AND WHERE EXACTLY IS ALL THE MONEY THAT YOU HEAR ABOUT PEOPLE DONATING? IT DEFINITELY HAS NOT COME MY WAY! I MUST ADMIT THAT I DID RECEIVE SOME FOOD STAMPS AFTER EATTING MREs UNTIL WE JUST COULDNT ANYMORE. BUT YOU HEAR OF ALL THESE CELEBRITIES DONATING ALOT OF MONEY TO HELP; IS IT ALL GOING TO KATRINA VICTIMS? WE ARE VICTIMS OF RITA THAT SEEM TO BE FORGOTTEN! IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT I AM MISSING HERE TO AID WITH MY INS. OR FEMA NEEDS, PLEASE INFORM ME.THANKS FOR READING!!!

Choices:
WHERE?

Wish I knew what was going on. For the last huricane (Lilly). Had my insurance adjuster and check in less then 2 weeks. Also the FEMA inspector in a week. But now nothing in 3 weeks. Of course we are not expecting much from FEMA anyway becasue we have homeowerners. Big deal. No Red cross news either. Oh I did get the $2000 (sorry FEMA) after fighting for 2 and 1/2 weeks with different operators on the phone teling me I was denied. But nothing else. I was blessed with only roof damage and three rooms need to be repaired from water damage but I feel sorry for the people who have lost so much more and have to fight this mess. This is unreal.

I think it is very sad, when a foreign county gets more help from our own goverment.Do not get me wrong I am for helping any one in need. But the facts remain President Bush has given dollars away to foreign aid that should have been kept here to help the Hurricane victims. I say take care of your own and if there is any left, then by all means help other counties. Please tell me can anyone even name the countries that came to our aid on the twin towers? Yet the veryones that distroyed lives of many, are now getting our tax dollars to rebuild? Something is very wrong people we need to wake up, and take a firm stand and tell our government, we are tired of this. The money that has been spent elsewere could have rebuilt everyone in Louisiana,Texas,Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida, sorry if I missed any state, a new home.It will keep happening, until we raise our voices united, and say enough is enough. If they will not listen, I say trow them out and get someone in who will care about what is happening in thier own country.

I have had my insurance adjustor come out since my last visit he. But more bad news we have to fight with them to. He only did a partial job of estimating damages they say I have to file a supplement claim. You would thing the 24 foot piece that is missing on my roof would have been seen in the first claim? Also have damage to five rooms and only two had floors back on them in the estimate. Who knew? Hope the second adjustor can see better then the first. I now these people are busy, but it would go alot faster is they did a complete job the first time and not have to come back to the same house for a second time.

Okay, I'm new at this. We filed a claim but someone told my wife that FEMA will pay for basically whatever our homeowners doesnt; tht FEMA is federal government and they have to make sure we all have a decent and safe place to live. After the first rain after we got back we noticed water coming into a bedroom so my wife went back to the Shelter mobile unit and the guy said he would "send an email" to our adjuster and "reprioritize it." Whatever that means. The FEMA blue tarp guys, when asked how our insurance adjuster will be able to see how many shingles we have missing with the blue tarp all over, the blue tarp guys said that because they put that much tarp on, that's supposed to be enough for the insurance adjuster; ie., that much tarp, that much damage. Anyone heard of this?

One adjuster told my friend that if you had a blue tarp covering most of your roof they would replace the whole roof. We were told we have to do a suppliment claim to add damages such as the one you said about the bathroom. But alot of my damages were left off by the adjuster, so I guess it depends on the luck of the draw on who you get to look at your house. The same insurance I have, I talk to people who got enough money to repair their homes. And some didn't even have bad roof damamge just a few shingles missing and they are paying for a complete roof job. I have three rooms to completely gut out and 2 to partially repiar because of roof damage and I have to get a second adjuster. Strange ain't it. I am assured by my insurance that the second adjuter will pick up every thing missed by the first. I hope so. Also was told by a FEMA lady yesterday that the Fema inspecter makes a adjustment on his own and if your insurance does not meet that amount you should be able to get the diference from Fema. Usually in a Loan from SBA but if you can't pay a loan back you may qualify for a grant. She said if your income is is less then bills going out that the SBA sends you back to FEMA. Just passing on what I was told, don't know how it all works.
