Hey Pete... I just got back and found your post about Alan. He called me and left message and I talked to him. Everyone is safe and that's what counts at this point. I still find it amazing that people both young and old, still living in Sweetlake/Big Lake and other people such as myself that use to live there, found this message board. I have found more information in the short time on this board than I have all day on the phone and/or watching the news. For everyone... Who would have thought. We were glad to find this site too as we could not find any info about our area anywhere. The news channels were and are focused on the bigger more populated areas.
Rita will be a storm that will be talked about for generations. I hope that we don't awake to learn that many of our beloved Cameron Parish Citizens perished.
yeppers.. I agree with you there. I fired off my rants and rhetoric to one of the major news agencies today. No doubt it will be deleted quickly as I said some pretty nasty things with regards to their coverage of places that received little or no damage and not one word from LC and SWLA. Sure made me feel good to spew it out though.
I was told that the most of the cell towers were knocked down. But apparenlty some are getting through. Other wise I don't think we would be getting the news.
I did as you did and fired off emails to the majors I know that it was turbo deleted but like you it made me feel better.
Having worked for the Sheriffs Office there in Grand Lake for 14 years I would rather be there helping than here sitting in the A/C, I guess I will just have to sit and watch for now.

Hello, The church is fine-very little damage. I posted to a site earlier that I linked from KPLC to, but I can't seem to find anything there anymore? If anyone knows where it is, please let me know. The Nugent's want to know how houses are in you guys area (pete & dewana). My family is all fine, Tammy and Randy's house is damaged, but otherwise small stuff with everyone else (except Darrin and Tina-we don't know yet).
