CNN has been covering LC area the best, altho very limited because of difficulty getting in there. Authorities are asking residents to not try returning till Monday. I live in Colorado but have a sister in LC [Speck Rd/ Tank Farm area ] and am keeping her informed as best as I can. Coverage of LC and Pt Author area is very limited for now. I'll post any important info I get from media coverage.

I live in south lake charles mcneese area. you can come back. its hot here.cold front coming in now so very nice. we have running water, phone and sewer. No electricity for a while, maybe up to a month. Stores are opening slowly. Jobs are coming back. Banks are opening. Its not as bad as the news wants you to think, its bad really but not as bad as they say..no flooding in lake charles, maybe in south lake charles but not here, just lots of tree damage. they have most the streets cleared so you can get to your house. Schools closed until futher notice. Come on back home and get started getting your home back to normal. plenty of water, ice and food. Good luck, stay safe and god bless.

I live on Ling Rd.,one over from Speck. It's really bad in our neighborhood. We have ALOT of pine trees (had) most of them have broke on our homes (including mine) I think it is the worst neighborhood i saw in all of Lake Charles as far as trees go. You can check out the pictures on jojamela.us click on photo gallery and then on Rita.

I went into Lake Charles today, and it looks like a war zone in there. I have water and phone at my appt., but the sewage is backed up. I don't plan on going back until they have EVERYTHING is under control. I'm gonna be staying by my mother's in Marrero, LA until I can go back. It is too hot to be living out there without electric, but other then that it's not too bad. When I said it tooks like a war zone I was talking about all the trees and powerlines that are down, and all the trees that are up-rooted. I really hope everyone the best and may God bless all of you!!!!!

I love on 9th and 2nd ave. Houses close to me are fine, one or two houses got hit HARD by trees, and will need major repairs. It did not flood in that area. My neighbor on 9th and 2nd is back in his house, and using a generator. It's just a random thing...some houses don't have so much as a shingle missing, others are destroyed.

FRIDAY! They announced today Friday is day for re-entry. We found out from relative today that we have power so we are returning tomorrow. They did warn us that things are not so great but improving everyday. Grocery stores that are open are only for few hours a day, lines are long and stocks are low due to lack of deliveries. Banks are limited, bring your own water, etc. Mosquitoes are terrible.
Good luck all.
