This is what I can tell you. Electricity is coming along faster than expected. If you come home to stay be prepared, bring generator, fema will reimburse, keep all receipts, home owners will reimburse for food in icebox too, gas you use, room and board and even if you come back you will still get displacement monies from fema. we did. you can also get food stamps even if you werent receiving before. you can get red cross voucher from 350 for individual to 1,500 for family for fuel, food, clothing housing. also irs has package # for tax break anyone wanting these numbers let me know I will post them. I live off ryan and mcneese, I have running water, sewer and phone. no electricity but its coming, they say from 2 days to a week. The news, people please dont believe what you hear on there, they dont want you to come back but you can and should to at least secure your house if it needs it. get things in order and if you can stay do it. clean your yards, put limbs in one pile by road, metal in one pile, and so and so ....take pics before you clean for insurance. fema will take care of what ins doesnt. I know the tree has to fall on your house for homeowners to cover and fema will only take out hanging limbs,,,rest is up to us guys so get some good gloves..also fema will reimburse for chain saws. yippee..ps....be very careful with dem tings...very dangerous..you can haul your household trash to various locations. Mail ...you have to go to certain stations to get your mail..checks from 10 to 3 on certain days...there is also numbers to call for those...apex has numbers for all these things also...337-433-0499...mail will be running in 2 weeks if I heard them right. or sooner. Schools will reopen asap according to the news ticker tape here, public and private. Its neighbors helping neighbor time now folks..I cooked for my few neighbors last night and its time cause I didnt know any of them and I came to care for one elderly lady who I know now will see me a lot. I will introduce myself 1st. I am Char from the state of Iowa. I am from Lake Charles, La. My Husband & I have been in Ankeny, Iowa for 13 yrs. now. However, My family live in L.C. & surrounding areas. My parents, sister, & niece (which all live in L.C.), are in Shreveport,La., where my daughter & son-in-law live. I thank GOD they had my daughter's to go to. I am very worried about them. I know they are safe & being taken care of, but Daddy wants to go home really bad. This has really stressed his health. He has Congestive Heart failure & diabetes,& is on oxygen 24-7 & has Hospice going in to check on him. Anyway, to get to my question. Do you know anything about Sunset Acres in L.C.?
I feel for everyone back @ my home place, yes, I still call L.C. home. I pray for everyone several times a day & again before I go to bed every night. We have been giving money through our Church to the Southern Baptist Convention for the Diaster. I was about 7 yrs. old when Hurricane Audrey hit L.C., but I do remember & I was terrified. I am very afraid of bad weather.

My parents live on Elton Court which is only a block or two from Sunset. They have power as of this afternoon. As far as damage, I can only speak to what my parents have told me regarding their street(s). No flooding, just wind damage. Luckily for them and many of their neighbors, no trees/limbs hit any houses. I was also born and raised in LC and still consider it home even though we are in PA. Good Luck and God Bless to all!

If he can get in daddy should come home if it makes him feel better. I think the best thing is to make sure hospice is back in service here first..heres some numbers...one is for apex broadcasting a local radio station that is up to date on most everything..1-800-807-0499. I will give you red cross 1-800-get-info maybe they can help you find out about hospice or even call the hospice itself to find out and see if they are back to going to homes, if so by all means tell daddy to come on home. I just got electricity on..lol yeahhhhhhhhhhhh...so excited!!!!!!!!! How are you today? I am a little better, I think?????
I talked to my Mom earlier this morning. She said my sister, niece, & the others left Shreveport yesterday morning to go home (L.C.).Daddy & Mom are going back to L.C. this weekend. My daughter & son-in-law will take them home. Daddy had a good night last night, Mom said. Well,good for him. He will be glad to get home.I, also called & talked to my sister. She said L.C. looks like a war zone, but she was soooooo glad to be home. There home was not damaged & neither was Daddy & Mom's. We thank GOD for that. Praise the Lord. My sister said you can't get in the driveway @ Daddy & Mom's. They have a great BIG pine tree in the front yard that some of it broke & is covering the driveway & the fence in their backyard is messed up. They both have electricity, Thank GOD.
