My hubby and I will be bringing my mom home to Sulphur the weekend of the 11th. We will be coming from TN. Can anybody tell me how things are now? Is there still a water boil order? How are the roads? Just wondering what we can expect. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Most areas have good service throughout Calcasieu. A few areas still have telephone outages but those are clearing up rapidly. There is no (or little) cable TV in Westlake/Moss Bluff. Water in Sulphur is safe to drink, as is Lake Charles. Most areas have fully restored power unless your electrical panel on the house is damaged and must be repaired by an electrician. Most roads are passable, however there is lots of debris on the sides that will scratch your car if you pass too close. Most stores are not open normal hours -- Sulphur Walmart is 7am-7pm. They lost many employees and are hiring as well as every other retailer in the area. Some are not open at all, but there are enough open that you can get food & medicine easy enough. Traffic is horrendous -- at least for the lake area. It is hard to find contractors/roofers to do any work so at least 1/3 of the roofs have blue tarps. Tree removal companies are very busy. Ditto for insurance offices such as State Farm and Allstate. Good luck to you.
