The Red Cross says that so far they are doing the Hotel thing for Katrina victims only... guess us Rita Evacuees are just screwed for now.

We had luck using this. So, keep trying. Or, go to another hotel that will pay for your stay. The hotel my girlfriend's sister is staying at said they are paying for it for up to 14 days. After that, they can check out and back in for another 14 days. But, I don't think they'd be there that long.

hey mylsu, Where and what Hotel did your gf's family stay at? Just for my info incase we need to find us a hotel.

How do you find available hotel space? I have called them all in state of LA and all say there is nothing available.

we went to texas, i spoke a guy that i work with and he went all the way to tallahasee florida before they could find lodging

Not true. The list has been updated. Looks like nearly the whole state is on it. Try it again.
