I am interested if anyone has been around Grand Chenier, La. More specific, 599 Mermentau River Road. This is directly on the opposite side of the Mermentau River from the Boat Launching ramp at the park. Any information would be helpful. There are a group of about 5 Mobile homes with boat sheds next to each. Mine is the brown and white trailer on the north(east) end of the row . The other trailers all belong to guys from alexandria and they are interested in how their's faired. ANy info would be appreciated.

KPLC showed some still pictures taken by State Police of the western end of Grand Chenier. There was a picture of Larry's Seafood grocery store and the only thing standing up was the fish house next door. Nothing but slabs, not even a debris field. Since this is only 1 mile or so west of the area you are talking about, I'm sure they suffered a similar fate.
If you get into the parish, which I understand is under curfew and lockdown until further notice, let me know how you did it. There are several of us that would like to get on Little Chenier. |

Thanks for the info. This is a post that I got from another website:
"Hey. My family lives at 511 Mermentau River Road. I work for State Police. We did a fly over today at ANR and everything is flooded. Sorry to say but everything is destroyed by the water. There is nothing left. Even Crain Brothers and everything across the river is gone." |

DKFarms:
Have you heard anything about Little Chenier? Is anything still standing? I am worried about my mom's house. |

Has anyone heard about the area around St. Eugene? I grew up on TT Mhire rd and my brother still has a house there... I hope.

My dad is a sheriff's deputy in Cameron, DA Dupuie, he is going to try to go by boat to Grand Chenier tomorrow. He is calling me and giving me reports so I will try and update you tomorrow. However, I have heard reports about the homes of some of my other family members and things don't look good. We did get word that my grandmothers house, Joann Nunez is still standing in Creole. Busted windows and lots of water in the down stairs but at least it was still there.

Kristi Jo, if your dad passes by Whitney and Lorrine Baccigalopi's house, can you let me know if it is still there? |

Kristi Jo, would you ask your dad to check on the homes near St. Eugene? More specifically, Craig Rutherford's home?

Nickie,
My Uncle John was able to fly over Grand Chenier and he said that Whitneys house is still there. It is damaged but is still standing. A little good news. |
