How much is too much? What are the people of Holly Beach willing to pay for a community sewer? I have been on the phone and internet trying to find out the cost of such a venture. By my calculations if all 400 meters were placed back in service with just the estimated cost of the 2 million dollar bank loan will be making each of us pay back over $5,000 per sewer tap. That is not adding in the high cost of daily maintance this type of system will incure during is lifetime of usage. My concern is for those landowners with less than 4 lots, they will not be able to meet the required min. for a approved sewer system. Also without this sewer plant the Parish will NOT give you permission for electic hook-up not even on a part time basis such as travel trailers. The Health Dept. said that each permit will be look at case by case. There is no across the board answer for our problem such as beach front areas with no ditches. For more info about Health Dept. Codes go online at http://www.state.la.us/osr/lac/51 or 1-337-475-3209
So wrong. we only have two lots, we now have a camper and we are hoping to be able to return to or beloved Holly Beach. But how are we to return if because we have only two lots we may not get electric. They are so wrong in this code stuff. Think they really just trying to make folks not come back. They been trying for years to drive away folks. Well. I hope they don't succeed !!!
People need to realize these rules and regulations (laws) were in affect before Hurricane Rita. I am from Johnson Bayou and I can assure you that the parish does want everyone to come back. People just need to be patient. At this time clean up needs to be the top priority.
Last word is that the Holly Beach sewer project is still in the works. Because of the 100% destruction of our community more money may be allocated to our rebuilding. Don't give up hope just call or write your politicans and let them know we want our beach back.

once again I went to the site that you gave on this site. Everyone needs to do the same what I got On july 20, 02 and thereafter in no case shall the (newly) created lots have less than 50 ft. of frontage or be less than 5,000 sq. ft. Question since when are we new property owners and some have 2 lots equally 50 ft. frontage. I feel we have been miss led...
LA Administrative Code Campsite Sanitary Station a sewage inlet with cover surrounded by a concrete apron sloped inward to the drain and watering facilities to prevent periodic wash down of the immediately adjacent area to be used as a disposal point for the contents of sewage holding tanks of self-contained travel trailers and/or trucks coaches or campers mobil homes and/or trailers and tent campers this sounds like it could be a thing to look into it may be a long life thing that could benifit the Beach the camper on the beach would not go to the end of the Beach to dump washing there raw sewage back into the Gulf allowing our general public from ingesting while swimming the police jury could put it by the dump site..
